Ridgefield School Board Member Faces Shoplifting Charge

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A member of the Ridgefield Board of Education plans to resign after she was arrested on shoplifting charges, according to a report in The Ridgefield Press.

Irene Burgess, 51, was arrested Jan. 22 and charged with sixth-degree larceny, the story said. Burgess also faced shoplifting charges in November 2013 from an incident at Kohl's, the Press said.

Burgess, a Democrat, has been vice chairman of the school board since 2010, according to her LinkedIn profile.
