Safety Day, a free event scheduled to be held in the parking lot of East Ridge Middle School on East Ridge Road, is to include a landing demonstration of the Eagle One Helicopter at 11:15 a.m.; a police K-9 demonstration at 12:30 p.m.; free child car seat inspections and installations throughout the day; a fire safety trailer; a display featuring numerous fire and police vehicles; crash simulators and more, according to organizers.

Now in its third year, the event is being organized by the Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association, the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department and the Ridgefield Professional Firefighters Association, according to the statement.

A number of informational tables will be available as well, enabling those in attendance to interact with a host of community organizations.

The day’s demonstrations are to be followed up with a friendly softball game between the town’s police and fire departments at 3 p.m., according to organizers. The victors of this year’s game will “hoist the Mayor’s Cup.”

In the event of inclement weather, a cancellation notice will be posted to the Ridgefield Police Department’s Facebook page.
