RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The death last week of a 26-year-old woman is being investigated by the Ridgefield Police Department's Detective Division as a possible heroin overdose, according to the Ridgefield Press.

The death was reported to the department on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 14, in which the victim died in her home in Ridgefield, the Ridgefield Press reported.

The department confirmed that the drug suspected in the woman's death was heroin, and it's awaiting the exact cause of death from the medical examiner’s office, according to the Ridgefield Press.

So far this year, the Ridgefield Fire Department has responded to nine incidents categorized as drug overdoses, but not necessarily fatal, the Ridgefield Press said.
