RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The Ridgefield Police Department is cautioning residents to keep their vehicles locked.

There have been several vehicle break-ins around the town over the past several weeks, all of them to vehicles that were unlocked, said Police Captain Bryan Terzian.

Unfortunately, Terzian said, these types of break-ins aren’t uncommon during this time of year.

“A lot of towns are experiencing car break-ins, and it’s not unusual for this time of year because people know that sometimes people leave gifts in their cars. We’ve seen a small increase in the amount, but then all the towns have.”

It’s too early to say if the break-ins are connected, Terzian said, but he thinks it might be the same people who are committing the acts.

"The best advice I can give," he said, "is to lock your cars.”
