Danbury Police had received citizen complaints that 22-year-old Xavier Bishop of Spring Street had been selling crack cocaine in Danbury, and began an investigation. Police said that through their investigation and surveillance of Bishop's house, they were able to detect activity consistent with drug trafficking, and they were able to get a search and seizure warrant for his home and car.
At around 3 p.m. Wednesday, police saw Bishop leave his home with his 1-year-old daughter and drive around before ultimately selling drugs to someone in a car on Pleasant Street, police said. After he drove away from the deal, he was stopped by police and taken into custody.
Members of the Danbury Police Department's Special Investigations Division, along with the Community Conditions Unit, the Patrol Division and a federal law enforcement official executed the search and seizure warrant on Bishop's home and car. Police said they found a substantial amount of crack cocaine, marijuana, money and drug paraphernalia. The Department of Children and Families also responded and removed Bishop's daughter and another child from the care of their parents.
Bishop was charged with risk of injury to a child, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a housing project, sale of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a housing project, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a motor vehicle without a license, sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.
He was held on a $100,000 bond.
