Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez said the man also had a notebook filled with rambling writings, including a reference to President Donald Trump although it was found not to threaten the president, the Post said.

Officers where being cautious, Perez said, when the man was taken into custody Wednesday on North Washington Avenue after calls about a suspicious man with a duffel bag, the Connecticut Post said.

The man said the bag contained clothes, but when he gave officers permission to look, they found a loaded AR-15 with serial numbers removed as well as loaded three magazines, the Connecticut Post said.

The man is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
