Police are looking for an older model, white or silver Jeep Grand Cherokee, possibly from 1999 to 2004. The vehicle evaded an officer during a motor vehicle stop at around 9:48 p.m. on Wednesday, police said.

The Jeep was traveling eastbound on Route 34 in Newtown in the area of Sherman Street. Police said that while it was evading the officer, it hit a dirt embankment with its left front corner, and may have minor damage to its fender or left front tire or rim. It left behind the wheel well liner, which is black plastic.

Anyone with information on the Jeep is asked to contact the Newtown Police Department at (203) 426-5841.
