At around 4 p.m. the student was dropped off at her regular bus stop, and as she was exiting she saw an older red minivan with two occupants, who tried to lure her into the vehicle, police said.

The driver was described as a woman between 45 and 50 years old with a slender build and short hair that was bright red with dyed green ends. The male passenger was described as 45 to 50 years old, overweight and with bright green hair.

The child ignored the woman and ran to her home. Police responded and searched for the van, but were unable to locate it.

"All officers are aware of this incident and will be on the look out for the vehicle and the suspects," police said. "The Monroe Police Department asks that parents remind their children to not get into any vehicles occupied by any people they do not know."

Anyone with information about the van, the driver or the passenger should contact the Monroe Police Department at 203-261-3622.
