Danbury Man Faces Gun Charge After I-684 Stop

BREWSTER, N.Y. - State troopers from the Brewster barracks arrested Kerzell Barnes, 30, of Danbury, Conn., with criminal possession of a firearm at a traffic stop on I-684 in Southeast Saturday night, police say.

Barnes was stopped for an inadequate plate lamp, and as troopers approached his vehicle, a black handgun was in plain view on the backseat. Barnes possesses a valid pistol permit in Connecticut, but does not have a pistol permit for New York.

Criminal possession of a firearm is a class E felony, and Barnes was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Southeast court on Thursday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m.
