Junior Police Academy Kicks Off In Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The first day of the Junior Police Academy was Monday, July 25.

This week-long program invites children ages eight to 15 to learn about what local police officers do. Some of the topics covered include: 

  • Crime scene investigation
  • Accident reconstruction
  • Laser and radar
  • Police K-9

This is the 13th year of the program in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield. The JPA was started by Lieutenant Shawn Platt when he was the department's Detective Youth Officer.
