From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., fire and police equipment will be on display in the parking lot at the school at 10 East Ridge Road. Sponsored by police and fire departments, the event includes information tables from safety-related organizations, crash simulations, the fire safety trailer and more.
The event is geared for the whole family, and admission is free, officials said. In case of rain, the event will be canceled so check with Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page for updates.
At 11:15 a.m., the Eagle One helicopter will land at the ballfield for a demonstration. Ridgefield Police Department's K-9 Loki and Officer Murray will make a presentation at 12:30 p.m. Organizations with information tables at the event include Ridgefield Prevention Council, Lyme Connection, Ridgefield Fire Department, and more.
There will also be child car safety seat installations and inspections, and no appointment is needed. The day is sponsored by the Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association, the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department and the Ridgefield Professional Fire Department.
At 3 p.m. the police department will play the fire department in the annual softball game. For more details, visit the Ridgefield website.
