Court Documents Say Boyfriend Lied About Stamford Christmas Fire

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The boyfriend of the mother who lost her three children and parents in a 2011 Christmas morning house fire in Stamford said he lied about where fireplace ashes were placed, according to the Hartford Courant.

Michael Borcina, the boyfriend of Madonna Badger, said he lied when he told investigators he moved fireplace ashes from the kitchen counter into the mudroom. Borcina said he lied in an effort to protect Badger, the Hartford Courant reported. 

Investigators believe the fireplace ashes caused the fire that killed  7-year-old twins Grace and Sarah Badger, 9-year-old Lily Badger and their grandparents, the Hartford Courant reported.
