FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The cost and quality of health care can vary widely from state to state, and a recent analysis by the personal finance WalletHub found that Connecticut is the sixth best state in the country for health care.

WalletHub compared data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 35 key metrics of health care cost, accessibility and outcomes to determine the best and worst states for health care in the country. The data ranges from average monthly insurance premiums to the number of physicians per capita.

The study found that Connecticut is the sixth best state for health care in the country, with Hawaii ranking first and Louisiana ranking last, according to WalletHub. The Nutmeg State came in 30th in terms of cost, second in terms of access, and fifth in terms of outcomes.

  • Hospital beds per capita: 18th
  • Physicians per capita: 5th
  • Physician Medicare-acceptance rate: 21st
  • Percentage of insured adults between the ages of 18 and 64: 8th
  • Percentage of insured children between the ages of 0 and 17: 6th
  • Percentage of adults with no dental visit in the past year: 2nd
