Bethel Firefighters Extinguish Garage Blaze

BETHEL, Conn. -- Stony Hill and Bethel firefighters were able to put out a blaze in a garage Thursday night before it spread to the attached home.

Just before 9:30 p.m., the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company and the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a house on the corner of McNeil Road and Hawleyville Road for a reported structure fire. The first arriving engine found smoke showing from the garage upon arrival, fire officials said.

Crews quickly forced entry into the garage and found fire int he storage space above the parking spots. They were able to extinguish it before it spread to the attached house.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Bethel Fire Marshal's office. Several units responded to the scene, and station coverage was provided by the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, Redding Fire and EMS Company No. 1 and the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department.
