To the Editor:
As part of National Park Weekend, Fairfield County’s very own Weir Farm National Historic Site will be hosting a special Open House on April 18 & 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This weekend also marks the beginning celebration of the park’s 25th anniversary in 2015.
Usually the Weir house is only open for visitors on a ranger tour. On this weekend, visitors can walk in the house and studios at their leisure. There will be docents and park staff throughout to help visitors enjoy the one-of-a-kind furniture, décor, and art.
There will also be an exhibit of 25 contemporary paintings by some of the park’s Artists-in-Residence in the visitor center.
April 18 is also Junior Ranger Day, when kids can do all the activities it takes to earn their own Junior Ranger Badge and Patch.
There will be no onsite parking. Please park and ride the free shuttle buses that will be running all day from nearby Branchville Elementary School at 40 Florida Road, Ridgefield, across Rte 102/Branchville Road from the new CVS.
