William O'Conner, 48, Of Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – William "Bill" O'Connor, 48, of Ridgefield, died Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Danbury Hospital.

He was born Nov. 20, 1966 in Pampa, Texas. He grew up in Montgomery Township, N.J. He graduated from Montgomery High School, where he excelled on the baseball team and went on to graduate from the University of New Haven. A resident of Ridgefield since 1998, O’Connor was a member of St. Mary Parish. His greatest role in life was a devoted husband, father, uncle and friend. He spent many years coaching softball, baseball and basketball. His biggest joys came from watching his three children play sports.

In addition to his wife, Jean, and their three children, Claire, Jack and Ellie, he is survived by his mother, Joan; a brother of Montgomery Township, N.J.; a sister of Sykesville, Md.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

His father, Jim, predeceased him.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.
