Services Set For Danbury City Councilman Gregg Seabury, Retired Teacher

DANBURY, Conn. — Gregg William Seabury, a Danbury City Councilman and a retired teacher, died Saturday, Nov. 4. He was 67.

Seabury passed away in Danbury Hospital, where he was born in 1949. 

He was a longtime teacher in the Danbury school system, including at Broadview Middle School, Rogers Park Middle School and Danbury High School. Seabury was known to his students as Superman, due to his resemblance to actor Christopher Reeves. 

After his career in education, Seabury continued to contribute to his community as a councilman for the city of Danbury for 14 years, a position held until his death. He also served on the Republican Town Committee and Republican State Central Committee.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara D. Seabury; his brother and sister-in-law John and Carol Seabury; his sister Barbara Seabury; his four children, Kori Smyth, Kyleen Dye, Kristy O’Brien, and stepson Brett Phillips; and many grandchildren and surrogate grandchildren.

Born to John and Evelyn Seabury, Seabury was raised with his brother, John, in the loving foster family of Charles and Gertrude Lewis in Southington after the premature deaths of his parents, 

A funeral service will take place Thursday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church; 95 Greenwood Ave., Bethel.
