RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield resident Fredrick William Lawrence died Monday, Jan. 11. He was 75.

Born in the Bronx, Lawrence was a parishioner at Christ the King Church in Ridgefield, where he also was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He owned and operated the "Roamin’ Catholic" bookmobile and traveled to churches throughout Dutchess County, to propagate traditional Catholic doctrine and reading material. It also gave him the opportunity to participate in his very favorite hobby, to talk about God and the church to anyone who came through the door.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Whelan Lawrence; children and their spouses Patricia and Nicholas Caridi of LaGrange, Deborah Jordan of Florida, Stephen and Nancy Lawrence of East Fishkill, Matthew and April Lawrence of Poughquag, Mary and Kevin Denny of Wappingers Falls, Ann Marie Abououkal of Beacon, and Dennis Lawrence of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren Kristin, Dominick, Michelle, Stephen, Jessica, Christine, Kevin, Jason, Mitchell, Aaron, Nathan, Matthew, Rachel, Joseph, Anthony, Alison, Katrina, Jonathon, Maria, Amelia, Zackary, Adam and Aryanna; and sister Nancy Lawrence of California.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marie (Hutchinson) Lawrence.

Visiting hours will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral, a High Requiem Mass for the Dead, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Christ the King Church, 209 Tackora Trail, Ridgefield. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ridgefield.
