Elizabeth Ann Lardie, 83, Of Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Elizabeth (“Libby”) Ann Lardie of Ridgefield died Sunday, March 3. She was 83.

Lardie was born April 10, 1930 in Toronto, Ohio, the only daughter of V. R. and Sara Chaffee. She graduated from Toronto High School in 1948, received a bachelor degree in sociology from Akron University in 1952 and a Masters of Science in Social Administration from the School of Applied Social Sciences at Western Reserve University, Cleveland. For 20 years, Lardie worked in various positions in northeastern Ohio with county Welfare services and became the director of the Ashtabula County Children’s Service.

She moved to Ridgefield in 1976. She served in various volunteer positions.

Lardie is survived by her children, William Michael (Cheryl), Stephen Joseph (Joanne), David Leslie (Jo-Ann), Mary Michele Melchior (Dan Melchior), Edith Ann Rose (Timothy Rose), James Patrick, (Tirzah), John Terence (Tom McKenna), and Debbie Fredericks; Sister Jean Tobin Lardie; 19 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo.
