Eversource Customers In Ridgefield Report Power Outages

update: Most of the power outages have been repaired as of 9 p.m. Friday. A few single-digit number remain late Friday.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Hundreds of homes and businesses in Fairfield County lost power Friday in the wake of soaring temperatures as the beginning of a heat wave gripped the region.

Norwalk was the hardest hit city in a list provided by Eversource, with 1,740 customers without power.

Other towns in Fairfield County with outages included (as of 4 p.m.), according to Eversource and United Illuminating:

Brookfield, 7 customers
Danbury 9
Fairfield, 15
Greenwich, 1
Monroe, 27
New Fairfield, 1
Ridgefield, 4
Sherman, 408
Trumbull, 13
Weston, 10
Westport, 203

Eversource reported 5,512 customers were without power, less than one percent of its customers. The utility company did not indicate when power would be restored to the affected customers.
