Severe Thunderstorms Heading Toward Northern Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 8:45 p.m. Monday in Fairfield County as a storm was rolling into the area, the National Weather Service said. 

At 7:30 p.m., National Weather Service radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms was moving toward Fairfield County that was capable of producing damaging winds of more than 60 mph. Hail is also possible. 

The stormed were located in a line north and west of Danbury in Putnam County and moving toward northern Fairfield County at 40 mph, the weather service said.

Widespread wind damage has been reported in the Hudson Valley in association with the storm, the weather service said. 

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. Monday are in the forecast. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Temperatures will drop to a low of 67 degrees.
