Several Fairfield County Communities Rank Among The Best To Live In

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Several communities were ranked among the best to live in, both nationally and within Connecticut, by lifestyle and education website, Niche.

Stamford was rated the 44th best city to live in in the U.S.

Norwalk was ranked the second-best town in Connecticut to live in while Danbury came in fourth. Several other Fairfield County locales were rated among the best suburbs in the state, with Darien, New Canaan, Westport and Wilton coming in first through fourth. Weston at sixth and Fairfield at seventh rounded out the local entries in the Top 10. Easton came in 14th and Redding at 18th.

Niche compiled data in several key categories to determine its rankings:

school ratings
crime rates
housing
employment
community
things to do

Nearly all of the municipalities ranked displayed similar traits: They performed well in median income categories and crime rates, but struggled in categories that factored in cost of living.
