RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield properties with two years worth of taxes could go up for sale by the tax collector, according to a report by the Ridgefield Press.
Notices will first be sent to a couple of dozen homes and businesses, according to Tax Collector Jane Berendsen-Hill, reported the Ridgefield Press.
It’s a tough measure but one that has to be done, she told the Press.
A "tax sale" is when properties with back taxes are auctioned to get the taxes due, said the Ridgefield Press.
The owners of the properties will be given time to make their tax payments by the time of the auction, set for September or October, according to the Ridgefield Press.
