There will be more weekday off-peak trains as well as service every half-hour on the weekends between New Haven and Grand Central Terminal.

On weekdays, the new trains will depart on the following schedule:

  • Grand Central at 9:34 a.m., 10:34 a.m., 11:34 a.m. (replacing the 11:34 AM express to Stamford) and 12:34 p.m.

On Saturdays, the new trains will depart on the following schedule:

  • New Haven at 2:25 p.m., 3:25 p.m. and 6:25 p.m.;
  • Grand Central at 10:34 a.m., 11:34 a.m., 12:34 p.m., 1:34 p.m., 2:34 p.m. and 10:34 p.m.

On Sundays, the new trains will depart on the following schedule:

  • New Haven at 2:25 p.m. 3:25 p.m.and 7:25 p.m.;
  • Grand Central at 11:34 a.m., 12:34 p.m., 1:34 p.m., 2:34 p.m. and 10:34 p.m.

These new trains serve major stations along the outer New Haven Line and improve travel time by 10 minutes over hourly all-stops trains.

On the Danbury Branch, two weekday, mid-day Danbury to South Norwalk shuttles (one inbound, one outbound) will be restored with other stops in Bethel, Redding, Branchville, Cannondale, Wilton, and Merritt 7.

The trains were discontinued last winter while grade crossing work was performed will return after Nov. 9. Those trains:

  • A 12:03 p.m. train from Danbury arriving at South Norwalk at 12:57 p.m., connecting with the train that arrives in Grand Central at 2:15 p.m.
  • A 9:34 a.m. train from Grand Central, connecting with the 10:43 a.m. train from South Norwalk, arriving in Danbury at 11:35 a.m.

On the New Haven Line in the PM Peak, to relieve overcrowding the 6:31 p.m. train to New Haven will no longer stop at Stamford.

But Metro-North has added a new train that will depart Grand Central at 6:35 p.m., making stops at Greenwich, Stamford, Noroton Heights, Darien, Rowayton and South Norwalk.

In conjunction with this change and to shorten the time between outer New Haven Line expresses after 6:30 p.m., the 6:47 p.m. train from Grand Central will now depart six minutes later at 6:53 p.m. The 7:06 p.m. train from Grand Central will depart at 6:49 p.m., 17 minutes earlier, and no longer stop at Stamford.

New timetables are coming soon and will be available in Grand Central, at outlying station ticket offices, on the schedules page, or on the Train Time App. Be sure to check one for changes to your commute.
