RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Foxes living under a portable classroom at Veterans Park School in Ridgefield have received a reprieve from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection after a parent complained they were being trapped illegally, according to the Ridgefield Press.
The school district had hired a company to trap the foxes and move them to another area. The parent feared the foxes were being killed, the Ridgefield Press reported. DEEP found that the company hired was operating without a proper permit, said the Ridgefield Press.
The company was not able to catch any of the foxes -- a family of four or five -- who have since moved out of the area, said the Ridgefield Press.
