Brandon Webb told the New York Post that he has serious doubts about a claim Brian Williams made about being embedded with SEAL Team Six during the Iraq War. Williams made the claim just days after the elite unit killed Osama bin Laden, the Post reported.

Webb said SEAL teams traditionally don't like to have journalists embedded within their units, and that he couldn't recall any journalist being assigned to SEAL Team Six, the Post said.

CNN analyst Peter Bergen echoed those sentiments, saying no journalists are ever embedded within that unit.

CNN went on to say that NBC is investigating claims Williams made about being blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1979 when he was student at Catholic University.

NBC suspended Williams for six months without pay after he lied about being in a helicopter that fell under enemy fire at the start of the Iraq War.
