RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Several inches of snow could fall overnight, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a winter storm warning for Ridgefield, Danbury, Wilton, Easton, Weston, Redding and other parts of northern Fairfield County.

The storm warning is in effect until from 6 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Three to six inches of snow could be on the ground by Tuesday morning.

Snow should begin late Monday afternoon and mix with sleet and freezing rain overnight. Rain will fall during the day Tuesday and mix with snow before ending Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service says.

The storm may also bring a tenth- to a quarter-inch of ice to the area.

"The combination of an accumulation of ice on an accumulation of snow will make travel dangerous, especially during the Tuesday morning rush hour," the National Weather Service says.
