Starting Jan. 3, the class will teach high school students how to develop a melody and to structure lyrics and instruments. By the end of the class the goal is to have each student leave with a recording of his or her own song.
Briody has shared the stage with artists ranging from Art Garfunkel to Aimee Mann and is an internationally recognized singer and songwriter. He won his first Emmy in 2008 for Best Original Song with “Little Starr”, an original composition that also earned him a BMI Film & Television Award.
In 2009, “We All Fall Down” won an Emmy in the Best Original Song category. Briody has also released five CDs of his own. His "We're All Heroes" opened the Connecticut Special Olympic Summer Games. Autism Speaks, a national organization combating autism, commissioned him to write the song “Bring Them Back” to help raise awareness about autism, and Briody’s song “Not Just A Dream” was featured on NBC’s broadcast of The 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The class costs $200 per student for the eight weeks, although there are scholarships available.
