Downed Wire Blocks Route 33 Near Ridgefield, Causes Power Outage In Wilton

WILTON, Conn. — Eversource was reporting power outages Wednesday afternoon in Wilton after a live power line fell in the roadway on Ridgefield Road/Route 33. 

Ridgefield Road was open by 4:15 p.m., but had been closed for a short while due to a downed, active power line near the Ridgefield town border.

As of 6 p.m., Eversource was reporting 33 power outages in Wilton. 

Wilton police and Eversource were at the scene near 1031 Ridgefield Road in Wilton. Dispatchers reported that the line had been active and was producing sparks in the roadway.

It was not clear when the power outage would be restored.
