"She was the most beautiful and funny women around," Mejia said about his sister. "She was talented and smart and loved her children. She would do anything for anyone in need.

"She would come into a room and just make everyone start laughing. She worked with kids with special needs for the Board of Education. Sherrie was a big part of everyone's life and we have suffered such a big loss," he said.

According to the News-Times, Blount lived at 26 South St. with her husband and four children, who range in age from 10 months to 8 years old.

GoFundMe page has been set up to support the children and help pay for Blount's funeral expenses. To date, the family has raised over $5,000 through the GoFundMe page. Their goal is to raise $10,000.

Danbury police said the fatal shooting remains under investigation.

"At this time, we have no information that would lead us to believe there is a danger to the public," police said in a statement.

Blount worked for the Danbury Public Schools as a teacher’s aide in a preschool program.

Her neighbor of two years, Karen Roach, posted a Facebook tribute to Blunt. "My heart is so heavy right now to hear about the passing of my neighbor and one of the sweetest human beings I have ever known, Sherrie B Mejia," the post says.

"Not only did we share a wall for two years but we shared the same love for our children, family and our dreams. You always told to believe in myself. You inspired me in so many ways and I will never get the chance to tell you. I'm praying for your babies that you loved so dearly. May God hold their little hearts in his hands and grant them peace."

Many tributes to Blount were also posted on the GoFundMe page.

Blount was "such a beautiful soul in and out. Your smile will be missed," said one comment on the GoFundMe page.

Another post said: "A beautiful soul gone way too soon. Praying for you and your family Sherrie. You will truly be missed."
