Concerts, Book Signings Highlight Fairfield County Weekend Events.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Attend a concert, play your own music, audition for a play, learn about Fairfield's history and meet a famous author in Fairfield County this weekend.

Celebrated as the, "top 4-string banjoist in the world," instrumentalist and vocalist Cynthia Sayer is praised for her “drive and virtuosity” by The New York Times, and is a founding member of Woody Allen’s New Orleans Jazz Band. Free. 40 Jesup Road. 

2. Pickers' Night Out on Friday, Aug. 22, at Danbury's A Common Ground Community Center for Art and Dance

Musicians can come to this round robin open mic to play some tunes and meet other musicians. The event will begin with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. and music will start at 7 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and their choice of beverage. Free, but donations are encouraged. 33 Crosby St. 

3. Auditions for the DAC Stage production of God of Carnage in Darien on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

4. Learn the History of Fairfield County at Fairfield Museum and History Center on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Learn the fascinating colonial history of Fairfield, including the establishment of the town’s original “four squares," the historic British invasion, the “witch dunking experiment,” at Edward’s Pond, the legacy of the Sun Tavern and more. 5. Sass Brown at Lou and Grey in Westport on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Fashion author Sass Brown will speak and sign books at Lou & Grey. Brown is an eco-fashion activist, author of Eco Fashion and ReFashioned: Cutting-Edge Clothing from Upcycled Materials. Free. 15 Main St.
