Christofor, who is organizing the even with the help of his daughter Isabel, said he has already met his fundraising goal but will continue to accept donations to help even more children.

"With the many generous donations received so far, over $1,500 has been raised – surpassing the fundraising goal," he said. "Hope to see you at the walk!"

Donations will be accepted, but are not required to walk. Anyone wishing to donate can visit this website or bring a check made to SmileTrain to the walk.

The walk will start at 11 a.m., in front of The Toy Chest, at 441 Main St. in downtown Ridgefield. The walk will proceed to The Cass Gilbert Fountain and return to Planet Pizza, at 411 Main St.

Planet Pizza will serve pizza to all those who take part in the walk. The walk will go on rain or shine.

SmileTrain is an international organization that provides free surgery for children around the world affected by cleft. Children born with cleft cannot eat or speak properly, aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job and face difficult lives of shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Some children are even abandoned—all because of the way they look. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are too poor to afford the simple repair surgery that takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as $250.

Fliers for the walk were donated by The UPS Store in Ridgefield and Squash's Office Supply. Additional donations were made by Glass Guys Of Ridgefield, Touch Of Sedona, Trillium Architects, Ridgefield Perfect Smile Center, Turkey Ridge, Shine Salonspa, Planet Pizza, Jeff Kaplan, Wendy Webber and Bob DAprile.
