Help Ridgefield Charity By Decorating A Chair

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – You may have noticed the painted Adirondack chairs placed around Ridgefield. They are part of a Chamber of Commerce fundraiser to support the local nonprofit Destination Ridgefield.

“Chairish Ridgefield” will be a part of the town’s Summerfest, taking place July 20-21. It is designed to promote the town and local businesses that are donating the chairs.

“This kicks Summerfest up a notch,” said Marion Roth, executive director of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. “Ridgefielders are a creative bunch, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.”

You can do your part by decorating a chair. And it isn't open to just the businesses in town. Residents and community organizations are also welcome to decorate chairs. According to the chamber, each entry costs $50, but that includes the chair, which can be picked up at the chamber offices on Bailey Avenue.

Once finished, the chairs will be displayed along Main Street during the Summerfest event. All the chairs will be up for silent auction with the proceeds supporting Destination Ridgefield. Participants also are in the running to win prizes for their chairs – Best Ridgefield Spirit, Funniest, Prettiest and Most Creative, among others.

Entries are accepted until July 19, when the chairs need to be delivered to the chamber offices between 9:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. Finished chairs will be accepted up to noon July 20.
