RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Happy birthday to Ridgefield’s Andy Luckey!
Luckey, who has owned a home in Ridgefield, turns 49 on Tuesday. The writer, director and producer was born Oct. 7, 1965, in San Francisco.
He is a writer, director and producer, primarily of animated works.
Luckey started his career in the craft of animation in his family's studio in San Francisco under his father, animator Bud Luckey. He has produced more than 300 hours of programming and was most notably a producer on the 1980s-90's animated TV series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," which earned five Emmy nominations, and "Adventures" from the Book of Virtues. He is also the author and illustrator of the children's book series "Spin & Sparkle."
He has worked in the game industry with Richard Branson's Virgin Interactive, Pure Interactive Entertainment and The Krislin Co. His most notable work was the video game derivative of Disney’s "Aladdin."
He was a co-founder and president of Greater Family, in 2003, a media company headquartered in Ridgefield.
