DANBURY, Conn. — A 15-year-old from Danbury has set to work on his Eagle Scout project to make improvements at Kenosia Park that can be enjoyed by the whole community.

He just needs a little bit of help.

Reed Lyall, a member of Troop 52 chartered at King Street Church, has launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money to complete a shade pavilion at the popular park on the city's West Side.

"My brother, Jack, and I very much enjoy playing soccer, and we decided to do projects that would benefit all residents of the greater Danbury community as well as our local soccer club," Reed says on the GoFundMe page.

"We decided to build a shade pavilion, with my brother working on the shade, and myself working on a 2,000-square-foot patio and six picnic tables to put underneath and around," he says.

The pavilion can be enjoyed by all visitors, especially the families that go to Kenosia Park for the water park, playground, fields, lake and the food trucks. The park is near the Danbury Fair Mall, between Exits 2 and 3 of I-84.

"With generous donations from several local organizations, we have already completed the shade pavilion," Reed says. "I am now working on raising money for the patio and the picnic tables. We have worked closely with many businesses, including the City of Danbury. With this help we have been able to drastically reduce the cost of this project."

Their goal is to raise $4,500 for the project. As of late Monday, they had raised $1,720 from 24 donors.

"We have everything lined up, all that is left is funding and follow through," he says. "With your help, I believe this project could be complete by the end of the autumn. Any or all donations would be greatly appreciated."

Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Boy Scouts and includes many requirements, one of which is leading an Eagle Scout project that benefits the community.
