Three Private Gardens Open For Tours In Ridgefield, Wilton

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Three private gardens in Ridgefield and Wilton will open to the public for self-guided tours on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program.

Visitors may begin Open Day at any of the following locations:

The Barlow Mountain Garden of Helen Dimos and Benjamin Oko, 11 Barlow Mountain Road, Ridgefield -- A 1735 saltbox, listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings, is surrounded by perennial gardens, shrub borders, many specimen and native trees, and a vegetable/cutting garden.

Garden of Ken and Margaret Uhle, 54 Silver Spring Road, Ridgefield – This one-acre garden has been designed in a woodland setting among large glacially deposited rocks. A prominent feature of the garden is its man-made winding brook connecting two small lily ponds bordered with yellow and blue flag iris, rushes and other marginal plants.

Pixie Perennials, 200 Nod Hill Road, Wilton --Terraced perennial gardens with a wide variety of unusual plants surround a 1740 homestead set on four acres overlooking a reservoir, home to mature and specimen trees, a rock garden, fish pond, and a variety of edibles. Homegrown perennials and shrubs will be for sale on the back patio and adjacent areas, plus a pop-up boutique in the "party" barn featuring items for sale by local artisans.

Admission to each private garden is $7, benefitting the Garden Conservancy; children 12 and under are free. Open days are rain or shine, and no reservations are required. Click here or call 1-888-842-2442 for more information.
