Check Out The Stars At The WestConn Planetarium This Fall

DANBURY, Conn. -- Western Connecticut State University will host planetarium shows this fall, followed by telescope viewing of the sky, at the Westside Observatory and Planetarium on its Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury.

Planetarium shows run rain or shine unless weather is hazardous; telescope viewing will be offered if sky conditions permit. The events are free and open to the public.

Check out a full list of events happening this fall semester:

  • Sept. 21: Planetarium show at 7 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 8 to 10 p.m. Visible will be the moon just past full and summer sky objects.
  • Oct. 5: Planetarium show at 6:30 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Visible will be summer and early autumn sky objects.
  • Oct. 19: Planetarium show at 6 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 7 to 9 p.m. Visible will be the moon just past full and summer and early autumn sky objects.
  • Nov. 9: Planetarium show at 5 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 6 to 8 p.m. Visible will be Venus, the moon near first quarter and autumn sky objects.
  • Nov. 23: Planetarium show at 4:30 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visible will be Venus and autumn sky objects.
  • Dec. 7: Planetarium show at 4:30 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visible will be Jupiter, the moon just before first quarter and autumn sky objects.
  • Dec. 14: Planetarium show at 4:30 p.m., followed by telescope viewing of the sky from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visible will be Jupiter, the moon waxing gibbous, and autumn and early winter sky objects.
