Danbury's new Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe is featuring an ode to "Hat City," with an Instagram contest and a "Danbury Crowns Them All’ sign representing how important downtown Danbury and community pride are to owner Andrea Gartner.

Her new mission is to "help us bring the whole universe to a revitalized downtown."

Hence, the contest. But first, some history. Over 100 years ago, cira 1904, Danbury produced 24 percent of America's hats and the city supplied the industry with 75 percent of its hat bodies.

At the turn of the century with a flourishing and crowning industry, Danbury became known as "Hat City" and "Hatting Capitol of the World." Its motto, seen greeting arrivals at the Danbury Train Station and at trolley stops along Main Street, was "Danbury Crowns Them All."

Fast forward to now and Gartner's contest which goes on now through midnight July 15.

To celebrate its first month of being open, Pour Me is asking folks to post a photo of themselves and the Crown on their Instagram with #wearedowntowndanbury and @pourmect.

Do that and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $100 Pour Me gift card. You'll also win a tour for four of the Danbury Museum & Historical Society which has provided much of the history behind the eatery's new mural, a blowup from the museum's archives and a nod to "Hat City's" illustrious past.

The winner will be announced on July 16.
