Monday, July 16

Drop in for Stories: 10:30 to 11 a.m.  Children ages three and up are invited for stories, songs and a short book-based film. Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield.

Commission on Aging: 2:30 to 4 p.m.  The commission will hold its regular meeting at Town Hall. Town Hall Small Conference Room, 440 Main St., Ridgefield.

Tuesday, July 17

Board of Finance: 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Board of Finance will hold its regular meeting to discuss the fiscal status of the town and FEMA reimbursement. Town Hall Large Conference Room, 440 Main St., Ridgefield.

Summer Time Concert: 7 to 9 p.m. C.J. Chenier & his Red Hot Louisiana Band performs for the CHIRP Summer concert series. His musical style ranges from the traditional zydeco of Clifton Chenier right on up to modern funk with healthy doses of blues, R&B, swamp pop and even country. Ballard Park, Main Street, Ridgefield.

Nutmeg Nibblers: Noon to 12:45 p.m. Readers in fourth- and fifth-grades bring their lunch and discuss the Nutmeg Nominees. Book to be discussed: "Because of Mr. Terupt" by Rob Buyea. Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield.

Author Reading: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Books on the Common presents local author Rich Cohen and his new book, "Alex and the Amazing Time Machine." This title is perfect for readers ages 8 to 12. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and able to have it signed. Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield.

The Writers Guild of Ridgefield: 7 to 9 p.m. The Ridgefield Library hosts the Writers Guild of Ridgefield on the third Tuesday of the month in the History Room. Writers get together to network and talk about their craft. New members always welcome. Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield.

Wednesday, July 18

The Chris Coogan Quartet: 7 to 8 p.m. The Chris Coogan Quartet plays an mix of jazz and originals. Coogan teaches piano students, directs the Good News Gospel Choir, and performs at area venues, including his monthly “Jazz at the Grange” series in Weston. Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield.

A Night of New Brews: 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Join Ancona’s Wines as they sample their favorite new brews. A surprise local guest will make a special appearance. Space is limited. Ancona's Wines and Liquors, 720 Branchville Road, Ridgefield.

War Comes to Ridgefield: 8 to 10 p.m. The band War is performing at the Ridgefield Playhouse as a part of the Guinness Black Lager Rock Series with special guest David Morgan. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge, Ridgefield.

Thursday, July 19

An Introduction to the Universe: 7 to 8 p.m. Families with children ages 5 and older are invited to learn about the universe. Bob Crelin will share his book "There Once Was a Skyful of Stars" and inform about light pollution. No Registration.  Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Center, 195 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.

Summertime Concert: 7 to 9 p.m. Bearfoot performs for CHIRP’s summer concert at Ballard Park. Originally formed in Alaska by Angela Oudeean and Jason Norris, the quintet now makes its home in Nashville and its newest release, "American Story," is a fusion of old school bluegrass with new school Nashville with a bit of Western thrown in. Ballard Park, Main Street, Ridgefield.
