Friday, March 1 Walt Whitman and the Civil War: 2-3:30 p.m. Join us for a two-part program about the life and poetry of Walt Whitman led by poet and teacher Patricia Grodd. Whitman declared the four-year war was “the very centre, circumference and umbilicus of his whole career.” The war furthered Whitman’s devotion to democracy and the American psyche. Saturday, March 2 Dr. Seuss Birthday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Calling all young fans of the Cat in the Hat, Horton, Thidwick and the other marvelous characters created by Dr. Seuss.
