RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The Ridgefield Playhouse is presenting The Who’s “Tommy: The Concert” as part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series on Friday at 8 p.m.

Produced and directed by Daniel C. Levine, the show will be performed in concert version from cover to cover. The original rock musical was based on The Who's 1969 double album rock opera “Tommy.” This show, like the original show, will include legendary songs such as “The Acid Queen,” “Pinball Wizard,” “See Me, Feel Me” and “Smash the Mirror” among other hits.

When the show opened on Broadway on April 22, 1993, it was a smash success, garnering five Tony Awards, five Drama Desk Awards, a Theaterworld Award and a Grammy Award in the same year.

“This is not a local production,” said Levine. “It is a Broadway-caliber concert production and everybody who will be performing on this stage has multiple Broadway shows under their belts.”

Fifty young actors from Ridgefield and the surrounding area turned up for the limited spots in November. In addition to Jackson Bennett playing the part of young Tommy, the children’s ensemble includes Cody Siegel, Nate Markman, Ross Beck, Hannah Pressman, Jane Shearin, Daniella Sallese, Anthony Raduazzo, Ava Beylouni, Nicole Kolitsas, Marley Bender, Talia Bender, Nate Cohen, Silvia Feola, Julia Besterman and Susie Levine. Tommy will be played by Michael Seelbach, who has played Tommy before in the Broadway National Tour.

Matt Farnsworth, who was in the original production of “Tommy,” will play Captain Walker, and Tricia Rapier, also from the national tour, will play Mrs. Walker. Ridgefield resident Levine, who played Cousin Kevin on the national tour, will also play Kevin in the Ridgefield production.

Tickets are $75. Click here to purchase tickets , or call the box office at 203-438-5795.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street.
