RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The Metropolitan Opera will show Lehár’s The Merry Widow live in HD at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. Guests can watch the performance at the Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge Road.

The show features American opera singer and soprano Renée Fleming and guests can enjoy behind the scene interviews and tours.

A special $45 prix-fix menu will be served at Bernard’s located at 20 West Lane in Ridgefield. Each guest will receive a free glass of wine with their dinner on the night of the event. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

The Live in HD Series is underwritten by Anita and Nicholas Donofrio, Jeanne Cook, Liz and Steven Goldstone, Sabina and Walter Slavin, Joanne and John Patrick, Marilyn and Joe Kreitz, and the Taylor Zemo Foundation with support from the Ridgefield Press and Whistle Stop Bakery.

In Lehár’s The Merry Widow, the great Renée Fleming plays a beguiling femme fatale who capitivates all of Paris.

Director and choreographer Susan Stroman, along with her design team, have created many plays with singing, dancing, and climatic endings. Tickets for the event are $25 for adults, $18 each in the series, $20 for seniors and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office. Tickets are free for students under the age of 18 by showing ID at the box office.
