Ridgefield Parks And Rec Offers Red Cross Classes

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield Parks and Recreation offers American Red Cross certified classes starting on September 15.

Students practice and refine all four competitive strokes, learn proper starts, turns and dives, improve relay skills, and increase swim endurance.

Member registration begins at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20 and open registration is available on Monday, Aug. 24 at 9 a.m.

There is something for everyone, offerings include parent and child classes (ages 6-47 months), preschool aquatics (ages 4-5), Learn to Swim classes (ages 6-12), adult lessons (ages 13+), and private lessons for members ages 3 years or older. We also offer swim endurance training programs for adults and teens.

These are perfect if you are training for a triathlon or preparing to become a lifeguard. Our In-House Swim Team is perfect for children ages 7 to 12 years old who want to try a swim team for the first time or for those who want to continue growing as a competitive swimmer.

This program culminates in an intra-squad meet. Swimmers must swim at American Red Cross Level 5 or higher or attend the tryouts on Tuesday, Aug. 18 or Saturday, Aug. 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Recreation Center pool.
