The show, called "Emerging Journey: The Artwork of Tina Corbelle-Sturges," opens Friday, April 29, and runs through Friday, July 22. A public reception will be held on Friday, April 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at @287 Gallery & Meeting Place, 287 Main St., Danbury.
Accompanying the show will be sculpted works by Eric Camiel.
"I've chosen to join 2D and sculptural installation in each @287 exhibition, and will continue to do so from now on," said Lisa Scails, executive director of the Cultural Alliance. "It's such a touchy-feely thing, and in the end, the mix becomes a wonderful, radiant collaborative experience."
"In this, the Cultural Alliance's tenth year, @287 has become an invaluable creative hub in downtown Danbury. To exhibit such artists as Tina Corbelle-Sturges and Eric Camiel, with the support of our community's stakeholders, is an honor, and we've been pleased that so many come to understand that a community must have art, and art must have a community," she said.
Corbelle-Sturges grew up in Ridgefield with her father, international artist Charles Cobelle.
Camiel's sculptural installation at @287 called "What Remains" marks his ongoing participation in the Cultural Alliance's arts outreach. His work has been exhibited in many museums and galleries.
It has also appeared on the cover of "House Beautiful" and several of his works are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, The Library of Congress, and the Library at Lincoln Center. His film work has won multiple Emmy Awards.
His work has been reviewed in "The New York Times" and "Glamour," and a "Time" magazine high-profile ”Man of the Year” issue has also noted Eric's diverse portfolio.
