RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The town's Fourth of July fireworks have been rescheduled to Saturday, July 12, due to the forecast for storms, Ridgefield officials announced Wednesday.

The fireworks, originally scheduled for Friday night, were postponed because town officials believe the fields where they are held will be too wet from the storms forecast for Thursday and into Friday.

On July 12, gates will open at Ridgefield High School at 6 p.m. and fireworks will begin at dusk. No alcohol or grills are allowed at the site. There will be parking at the high school, as well as at Barlow Mountain and Scotland Elementary Schools on Barlow Mountain Road.

A $20 parking pass is required, which can be purchased with cash or check at the Fairfield County Bank, Town Hall, and Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. The proceeds will go toward the Family Fourth Committee.

The rain date is Sunday, July 13.
