Walkers will head to The Cass Gilbert Fountain and return to Planet Pizza at 411 Main St.

This walk will be done in rain or shine. It started with Ridgefield resident Steven Christopfor and his daughter, Isabel.

Last October, over 30 people walked and surpassed their fundraising goal of $1,250 by raising $1,985. Their ultimate goal is to raise the $1,250 again and see how far they can go this year.

Donations will be accepted, but you are not required to do the walk. Anyone wishing to donate can click here.

The "Mile For A Smile" fundraiser is to help children who are born with cleft palates, who have many everyday difficulties with eating and speaking properly. In some countries, the children aren't allowed to attend school.

As adults, they have a hard time holding down jobs and leading normal lives. Clefts are often untreated due to the costs of the simple repair surgery. It can take as little as 45 minutes and cost as little as $250 to make a huge difference in their lives.
