RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield has events all around town throughout October for residents of all ages, including a voter registration drive, a celebration of libraries and events with animals.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Ridgefield Library will host its first Love Your Library Day. During the day, children’s authors will be showcased in the lower level of the library. For adults, there will also be an author showcase from 7 to 10 p.m. Winning adult and teen short stories will be announced, and authors will read selected portions from their winning entries.

Kids can also take a photo with Maurice Sendak’s "Wild Things" cutout and see a performance of "Story Pirates" at the Ridgefield Playhouse at 5 p.m. The Ridgefield Library is located at 472 Main St.

For eligible Ridgefield High School students, there will be an opportunity to register to vote on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the school.

ROAR, the Ridgefield Dog Shelter, will host a festival at the Parks and Recreation Center at 195 Danbury Road on Sunday, Oct. 16. The festival will start at noon and end at 4 p.m. rain or shine. There will be many dog-themed activities, from games to music, with registration available through ROAR . The cost is $20 for a family or $10 a person and pet.

To help raise funds for Founder’s Hall Senior Center, the biennial wreath festival is being held beginning Friday, Nov. 18, with a beefsteak community feast. Community residents can purchase an undecorated wreath for $25, decorate it and then return it to be sold to fund raise for the organization. For more information on purchasing a wreath, decorating the wreath and returning it for the festival, call Cindy Nesbitt at 203-431-7000.
