RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Radley College, a boarding school in Oxfordshire, England, will present a free concert of sacred and secular music with its choir and orchestra at Ridgefield's Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 14.
The concert will take place in the sanctuary of the church, located at 207 Main St. at Branchville Road in Ridgefield.
“Enjoy this wonderful music and, with the concert’s early start time, you'll still have plenty of evening left for dinner out with your Valentine,” says Henric Ideström, Jesse Lee’s music minister.
The evening's program will include Holst’s "Jupiter" from “The Planets,” Gounod’s Petite Symphonie and choral works by Howells, Elgar and Monteverdi.
Radley College is one of four boys-only boarding-only independent senior schools in the United Kingdom, having been founded in 1847.
There are about 670 students, ranging from ages 13 to 18, and the school has a longstanding relationship with the Kent School, based in Connecticut. The concert is part of the school's latest visit to the area.
