The storms also caused large power outages across the city on Saturday.

Strong storms Saturday struck the festival, knocking over tents, forming puddles and forcing organizers to cancel events early, according to The Hour website.

No injuries were reported at the Oyster Festival despite the damage, Norwalk Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik said via Twitter.

But the Norwalk Seaport Association Inc. will reopen the gates for the Oyster Festival at 11 a.m. Sunday to continue the festivities at Veterans Park, it announced on its website. It will run to 8 p.m.

"We want to thank our tireless vendors and volunteers who worked so hard [Saturday] and through the night to get everything ready for our opening" Sunday, the website said. "Guests can use their unused tickets or receipts from Saturday for entry on Sunday."

The Saturday concert by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts cannot be rescheduled for Sunday because the band is committed to another event.

Rides include the ferris wheels, tilt-a-whirls and merry-go-rounds, with dining options such as oysters, lobster and other local food items. Fairgoers can also enjoy arts and crafts, shopping, carnival games, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, and musical performances.

The U.S. Army Field Band will perform at 1 p.m. Sunday and Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra will be on the main stage at 4 p.m.

Admission is $12 for the general public, $10 for seniors, $5 for children under 12 years old and free for active duty members of the U.S. military and their families.
