Kuti has been nominate for two Grammy Awards and has won multiple Billboard World Music Awards. The Nigerian musician is the oldest son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He is best-known for his collaboration with American hip-hop artists, such as Mos Def, Common and Jaguar Wright, and has toured with Jane’s Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Getting back to his Afrobeat roots is the central aim of Kuti, who continues to evolve with his band, The Positive Force. Kuti, an Amnesty International ambassador, expands the diversity of his artistry on his new album "No Place For My Dream."

A mix-and-mingle wine tasting courtesy of Palm Bay International kicks off the evening at 7:15 p.m. in the lobby. This show is part of the Palm Bay International World Beat Series with media sponsor WFUV 90.7.org.

Special guest is Imam Baildi, a band whose sound is likened to injecting a Greek band of the 1950s into a modern sound system. It’s a blend of two brothers, a female vocalist, an emcee and three bouzouki players (a type of Greek mandolin), saxophone and electric guitar.

For tickets ($45), call the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit arts center at 80 E. Ridge Road, parallel to Main Street.
